Preserving Flowers in Resin

Duration: 1 hr 30 or 2 hrs

Unleash your creativity and discover the beauty of combining natural elements with modern art in our Preserving Flowers in Resin course at The Rivershop. This immersive, hands-on workshop will guide you through the process of preserving flowers in resin and crafting a stunning wooden trinket tray. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced crafter, this course offers a fun and creative journey, resulting in a unique handmade piece to treasure or gift.

This course is centered around the popular technique of preserving flowers in resin, a process that involves embedding natural flowers in resin to create long-lasting and beautiful designs. In addition to crafting your trinket tray, you’ll have the option to upgrade and create a larger tray or even wall art, expanding your artistic expression. This is the perfect opportunity to develop new skills, express your creativity, and craft something truly unique.

What’s Included:

All materials necessary to complete your wooden trinket tray, including resin, flowers, and other supplies, are provided. You’ll also have access to additional decorative elements like extra flowers, pigments, and glitter to further personalise your design. The focus remains on preserving flowers in resin, ensuring your artwork showcases the natural beauty of the flowers embedded in the resin.

Optional Upgrades:

If you’re interested in creating a more elaborate piece, optional upgrades are available during the class. You can opt to craft a larger tray or wall art, giving you the opportunity to apply your preserving flowers in resin techniques on a grander scale. These upgrades are offered at an additional cost, and you can decide whether to pursue them during the workshop.

Takeaway:

Due to the curing time required for resin, your wooden trinket tray will not be ready to take home the same day. We will arrange for a collection date or offer postage, depending on your preference. Once the resin has fully cured, your preserving flowers in resin creation will be ready to brighten your home.

What You’ll Learn:

Introduction to Resin Art:

We begin the course with an introduction to the world of resin art. You’ll learn about the different types of resin, their properties, and important safety tips. Our expert instructors will show you how to measure, mix, and pour resin, as well as discuss common mistakes to avoid. With a special focus on preserving flowers in resin, you’ll learn how to bring vibrant, natural beauty into your resin art projects.

Preserving Flowers in Resin:

The heart of this course is learning the process of preserving flowers in resin. You’ll be guided through selecting, preparing, and preserving flowers to use in your resin artwork. Not all flowers are suitable for resin, so we’ll help you choose the best types and show you how to preserve them to maintain their color and beauty. Once prepared, you’ll arrange your flowers in your trinket tray to create a captivating design, fusing nature with resin for a timeless look.

Crafting Your Wooden Trinket Tray:

The primary project for this course is a wooden trinket tray that you will customise using preserving flowers in resin techniques. We’ll take you step-by-step through the entire process, from preparing the wooden tray to pouring the resin and embedding the flowers. This project is designed to teach you the foundational skills needed to work with resin while allowing you plenty of creative freedom. You’ll leave with a personalised trinket tray that’s both functional and decorative.

Advanced Techniques and Optional Upgrades:

Once you’ve mastered the basics of preserving flowers in resin, you’ll have the option to upgrade your project. If you’re feeling ambitious, you can choose to create a larger wooden tray or even wall art. These larger projects give you more room to experiment with your preserving flowers in resin designs and allow for more intricate layouts. Our instructors will assist you in navigating these bigger projects to ensure a beautiful finished piece.

This was a christmas present from my son, which we did together last night.
